AILSA RICHARDS
Garden Design
Cala Moli,
Ibiza
A family holiday home perched on the side of a mountain on the south west of the island, that wanted to blend with its natural environment. Its small garden, laid out in two terraces, was planted to give shade, verdant interest and a sense of journey while acting as a connection between house, guest house and pool.
Established trees and were left in place and the pallette of new plants chosen were mostly structural and evergreen with pops of season interest and colour. They needed to suit their environment and so were planted according to their needs, generally without irrigation and all sourced locally.
The aim of the garden was to create a link with, and a frame for the landscape and views beyond.
