AILSA RICHARDS

Garden Design

Ailsa trained in Garden Design at the KLC School of Design graduating with Distinction and the top award of the Diploma course. She also achieved a Distinction from Waterperry Gardening School in Practical Horticulture. Her background is in residential developments and previously ran her own business in London. While she continues to have an interest in interiors, it is her passion for plants and ecology that led her to set up a design practice that enables clients to make the connection between their exterior and interior spaces, bringing nature into their homes and their lives.

Key to the way Ailsa designs is collaboration with her clients, and a keen sense of place. By taking into account the nature of the local landscape, architecture, materials, and ecology, as well as the needs of her clients, she aims to build gardens and landscapes that last the test of time.

She always designs with a keen eye on the detail, and the environmental impact of her work. She chooses to work with local crafts people, considers the carbon footprint of the materials she uses, and aims to encourage biodiversity through creating habitat, water sources and year-round planting.
